Stalk Bug
A group of stalk bugs, one of them fell off their host.--------------------------------------------------------------------
Stalk bugs are small bugs that mimic a mushroom cap.
Behavior and Observations
-------------------------------------------
- They have sharp teeth that they use to remove the caps from mushrooms and latch onto the stalk, at which point they will resemble normal mushrooms again.
- They might utilize this mimicry to hide from predators, however the main reason they do this is to drain nutrients from the mycelium.
- Ocasionally, they might get too big from draining resources from its host and fall off or snap the stalk, which will start their search for another one.
- Their bodies are very soft and squishy.
- If they feel threatened, they will emmit a very high-pitched squeak and attempt to run away.
- Though they can't cause much harm to humans, it is adviced to be careful around them. They are very fragile and their bite can pierce clothes, and even skin.
Personal Notes
--------------------------------------------------------------------
They're alright, I guess. I can't count how many times I've accidentally walked by one of these and they bit me. Their bite is so annoying too, it's like being stabbed by like 10 tiny needles. I've heard they're particularly bothersome to chefs in the island, mostly because they like to mimic the common wonderlandian cap which is used in a lot of recipes.
