Cupidfly
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A swarm of cupidflies collecting pollen.
Cupidflies are small pollinators very closely associated with love and affection.
Behavior and Observations
-------------------------------------------
- They are very prominent pollinators, responsible for pollinating up to 80% of all plants on the island.
- They have very thin appendages with heart-shaped sticky pads that they use to gather pollen.
- They have complete control over those appendages. They are capable of moving them at will as if they were extremities.
- They are very sensitive to endorphins and, as a result, can detect them very quickly.
- They are usually present through all the seasons, except winter. During winter, they take shelter inside flowers.
- It is a common myth that if a person in love gifts their crush/partner flowers, and cupidflies come to pollinate the gifted flowers, it is a sign of true love.
Personal Notes
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Actual lovebugs :] so adorable. I remember a month or two ago, during Valentines Day, there were so many of these flying around. They were going crazy with all the flowers people were gifting to eachother. It was pretty adorable. It did make me wonder about the whole "true love" thing, because like... surely it's not as simple as that, right? But I guess it's not meant to be taken so seriously, it's just some fun legend.
